I'm back from walkabout, Again I'd like to thank you for your interest and support, Cheers! I have some really exciting news for the upcoming 2010 pike and muskie season. I've been working on a single hook pike- muskie fly, a crossover pattern if you like. Its going to be available in two sizes a 4/0 barb-less hook at 7" long and a 6/0 barb-less hook at 9" long, these flies still come with 3D eyes and rattle to help call up the big ones. The advantages of these flies are their cast-ability teamed with a realistic swimming action. Quicker and longer casts will add up to covering water, a real advantage when muskie fishing. One example is to use these flies to locate muskie, if they don't strike switch to my much larger DJ muskie. Remember, finding the fish is the hardest part. Once you know the approximate whereabouts, go back to the spot in the late afternoon. Changing size and colour can help seal the deal. Good luck!
I'll be using them on spring pike in Georgian Bay in early May. Keep ya posted.
I offer a very unique opportunity in that all the flies I offer on my site, starting from the development of an idea to the finished fly, are designed and tied by me. This gives you an opportunity to fish flies right from the designer's vice. My speciality are flies designed to perform a specific task; for instance, my NEW snag-proof Swimtrue Mouse and Swimtrue Frog. Attention to detail is crucial. My main objective is to keep the quality and performance of my flies to the standard you expect from a custom fly tyer. My patterns will work over a varied range of retrieval speeds, making them a great choice for many situations. I take great care and pride in every fly I tie, striving to push the boundaries of fly-tying with style.
If you have favourite colors or variations you would like to try, just email me with your ideas. Enjoy the site. Graham.
Fall Muskie
Fall offers a last kick at the can, before old man winter sets in. This rings true, when it comes to muskie it can the best time of the year on the fly. This nice 42" muskie was fooled using a yellow/black dj muskie on a resent trip with my good friend Glen Hales, in Belleville, Ontario Canada. Information on booking Glen for a great day on the water, go to my Fly fishing links page.
